Hi there, and welcome! I’m so glad you’re here! My name is Nena Holt, and I’m the founder and owner of Wise Owl Accounting. As a full-charge bookkeeper, I bring over 30 years of experience in administration, accounting, and tax preparation. I’ve had the privilege of helping individuals and businesses stay organized, compliant, and confident in managing their finances. My approach is rooted in patience, precision, and a genuine desire to meet people where they are and grow with them every step of the way.
In my day-to-day role, I handle a wide range of responsibilities - from bookkeeping and payroll to budgeting, financial reporting, and tax preparation. I work with tools like QuickBooks, Sage/Peachtree, Microsoft Office, and Drake Tax to bring clarity and efficiency to each client’s unique financial picture. Whether it’s managing accounts receivable and payable or ensuring year-end filings go smoothly, I approach every task with care and consistency. One of my favorite quotes is from Bob Ross: “There are no mistakes, only happy accidents.” That mindset has helped me turn challenges into opportunities, both for myself and the people I service.
I hold dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Human Services and Biology from Old Dominion University, along with dual Associate’s Degrees in Science and Social Science from Virginia Peninsula Community College. I’m also a Registered Agent, Notary Public, and Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. My experience as a U.S. Coast Guard Ombudsman strengthened my bond with the veteran community and reinforced my commitment to service. At Wise Owl Accounting, my goal is simple: to create a supportive space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to succeed - one step, one solution, and one season at a time.
